If you’re feeling anxious about birth and perhaps a bit anxious generally – has your fear of birth just gone to the top of your list of worries? Are you afraid of the unknown? Feeling out of control? Or how you’re going to cope with labour?
Maybe you’ve heard of hypnobirthing from friends who’ve had positive and empowering and calm births but you’re not sure if it would work for you, or how it could help you –
Well let me tell you something you’re in the right place.
Four years ago when I was pregnant for the first time, birth went straight to the top of my long list of stresses and worries – how was my baby going to come out? How would I handle the pain – after all I’m a wimp! Well, a GP told me about hypnobirthing and I booked onto a course asap thinking it sounded too good to be true but it was worth a try.
And the course enabled me to go from tense and scared every time I heard someone talk about birth, to excited about having my baby… I went on to have my dream birth – a homebirth, water birth and natural birth.
Having this amazingly empowering and positive experience made me fall head over heels in love with The Wise Hippo hypnobirthing course that I took and I had to teach it – after all if it helped me go from terrified of labour to simply looking forward to meeting my baby I knew it could help anyone.
Since then I have taught over 150 couples the amazing empowering and relaxing techniques to help them have the right birth on the day.You can read loads of their inspiring birth stories too – there’s one mum who hosted a BBQ in labour, another who baked a cake, and one who went to her 40 week midwife appointment to be told ‘erm go to hospital you’re 4cm dilated’ along with loads more.
I’ve also taught the breathing techniques I teach to over 90 midwives at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. And I’ve put my skills into practice during a completely different birth. My second baby was born via an elective woman centred C-Section after he managed to get into a transverse lie (clearly he has my appalling sense of direction). This too was amazing and cemented for me how much the techniques flipping help, in any circumstance. That it’s so much about your mindset.
So I’m passionate about supporting couples to have the right birth for them. And more than that, I want women to enjoy their pregnancies and motherhood as much as possible. The skills you learn on the course help with anxiety generally. The classes are fun and relaxed. Taught in small groups or privately in my gorgeous and relaxing garden studio.
And I’ve created a community of women who support and nurture each other – a closed Facebook group for anyone who’s been to my classes. Regular fun coffee mornings where we have a giggle and chat, rather than compare baby weight or whether babes are sleeping through the night.
And because motherhood can be tough, isolating, emotional and crazy stressful (ask any honest mum) as well as the most amazingly wonderful time – I’ve created a 6-week relaxation course for mums to help them relax and become part of a group.
So if you’d like to feel calm, relaxed and generally less anxious about pregnancy, birth or motherhood get in touch.
